Redesign of the YMCA Mobile App


 

CHALLENGE

Due to the increase in mobile app usage for class registrations and bill payments, the YMCA needed to update its app to be more user-friendly and robust.

STRATEGY

To create a more customer-centric app, we collected customer feedback. We pulled data on past app use and surveyed customers on necessities for an improved app experience. We built a new design around the developer’s platform limitations to provide a streamlined customer journey through the app navigation. We updated the look and design to create better visual cues and leverage iconography as a communication tool. We also created an improved memberships communication strategy through in-app notifications, reminders, and ad placement on the improved platform.

RESULTS

The new, improved look and experience of the app were received with rave reviews. We rolled out a re-launch of the app to increase users and immediately saw a 50% increase in class registrations, bill payments, and social media interactions via the app.
