Retail partner portfolio extension


 

CHALLENGE

In order to expand their retail partner portfolio, Capital One wanted to attract the attention of furniture companies. They needed to reach audiences in the furniture industry and inform them that their experience in the private label credit card business was the best choice when looking for a new credit card partnership.

STRATEGY

To reach an audience effectively, you need to understand their habits and target them in their comfort zones. Through research, we identified trade shows and trade magazines as safe avenues to test out the market interest. Educating this audience about the relationship benefits between credit cards and furniture manufacturing provided a complicated messaging structure so straightforward copy and visuals were the smart choices for the introduction. The Capital One brand needed to stand out and the headlines used needed to bring the brand to life while highlighting the benefits of partnership opportunities.

RESULTS

Series of ads were run and Capital One had a presence at trade shows. They were able to secure one furniture company for a long-term contract. They also received feedback about potential partnerships in the big-box retail sector.
